Jim Smith is a highly experienced, classically educated economist with a flair for making current (and future) economic news comprehensible AND interesting. Jim has many years of real-world work experience in retail and manufacturing environments (Sears and Union Carbide), in government economic agencies (Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and President's Council of Economic Advisers), in real estate associations (the Society of Industrial and Office REALTORS®) and in academia (Professor of Finance at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill). He is also knowledgeable about global economic affairs, and has recently finished his two-year term as co-chair of the European Council of Economists.
